Sebastian started Sebastian von Marschall Architect, LLC to pursue his passion for traditional architecture in Charleston and the Lowcountry. Building on a decade of experience in residential, small-scale commercial, and historical work from Newport, Rhode Island to Coral Gables, Florida, the firm offers clients turnkey architectural services, creating timeless architecture for a contemporary lifestyle.
Sebastian’s design aesthetic was shaped by his experience working at Peter Pennoyer Architects in New York, where his involvement with the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art further broadened his understanding of classical design principles. He spent another two years with Beau Clowney Architects, learning the intricacies of the complex regulatory environment in Charleston.
Sebastian approaches each project with three goals: to create unique architecture based on a rigorous understanding of precedent, to provide complete client satisfaction, and to maintain discretion. His involvement from start to finish guarantees an uncompromising, comprehensive level of service for each project. Working closely with some of the most talented craftsmen, builders and designers, Sebastian strives to make a lasting contribution to the rich architectural fabric of Charleston and beyond.
Harry Hofmann is a Senior Associate and Project Manager at Sebastian von Marschall Architect, LLC. His interest in the evolving nature and application of the classical language was informed by his experience with the Institute of Classical Art and Architecture and his work at Peter Pennoyer Architects in New York. Prior to his time in New York, Harry spent five years working and studying in the Lowcountry, and now returns to join SvMA. He believes in the importance of the human hand in creating, and the use of drawing as a critical design and observation tool.
Harry holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Architecture from The University of Virginia and a Master’s in Architecture from the Savannah College of Art and Design.
